Factory Records, uno de los sellos más importantes de la historia de la música del Reino Unido (Manchester), por no decir el más importante, está cumpliendo 40 años.
Creada por cinco mentes creativas, lideradas por Tony Wilson a finales de los años 70 (1979), produjeron tres bandas fundamentales en la historia de la música independiente, Joy Division, New Order y Happy Mondays y el primer superclub de Gran Bretaña, The Haçienda; influenciando a toda una generación con su música y entre 1979 y 1992 fueron pioneros a la hora de hacer pop de forma independiente.
Como parte de la celebración, Warner Music anunció el lanzamiento de dos box sets que reúnen el legado del que fue hogar de bandas como Joy Division, New Order, The Durutti Column, Happy Mondays, Electronic, Cabaret Voltaire, A Certain Ratio, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) y muchas otras más.
El primero es Factory Communications: 1978-92, una colección de 63 tracks de rarezas y canciones inéditas. Este box set, que originalmente se lanzó en cuatro CD’s como un homenaje al sello y a su fallecido fundador, Tony Wilson, estará disponible a partir del 8 de noviembre.
